Heavy Towing Company Gives Train Car New Home

Heavy Towing Company Transports Train Car That Has New Lease on Life

An Indiana heavy towing company recently gave a train car a new lease on life after years on the tracks. You might be wondering – where do train cars go when they reach retirement? You might think the answer is a scrap yard. However, Paddack’s Wrecker Service brought the train car to a train organization after its owner donated it to train enthusiasts.

The train car had been located in a backyard. The Paddack’s team was called to lift it, set it on a trailer, transport it to the destination, and offload the train car onto display tracks. The heavy towing company sent out 2 members from their crew to the location in McCordsville, IN to complete this unique job.

They brought with them, a 75-ton rotator and a tractor with an expandable lowboy trailer. Once on the scene, they got to work and lifted the 48,000 lb train car. The team swung around the side of the rotator, placed it on the trailer, and chained it down.

Within 2 hours, the retired train car arrived at its new home. The Paddack’s crew carefully set it on a display track at the center of a small town as a memorial. Needless to say, the train was likely happier with its new home there instead of being scrap metal!

Kudos to the Paddack’s team for completing the meaningful relocation of the train car!
